אַקּוֹ m., a roe, a roe-buck, caprea, capreolus, from אָנָק, אֶנֶק i.q. Arab. عناق she-goat, and Talm. אַקָּא a goat, with the termination וֹ, of the same force as וֹן, just as caprea is so called from capra, Deuteronomy 14:5 see more under the root אָנַק No. 2 compare Bochart, Hieroz. i. p. 900, seq.
