נִשְׁתְּוָן m. Hebr. and Chald. a letter, Ezra 4:7, 18 Ezra 4:18, 23 Ezra 4:23, 5:5 7:11. The derivation appears to be from the Pers. نبشتن nobishten, نوشتن, نوستن i.e. to write; a sibilant letter being transposed.
