מַדְרֵגָה fem. a steep mountain, which one has to ascend by steps, as though it were a ladder (Felfenfteige, Felfentreppe, compare κλίμαξ e.g. κλίμαξ Τυρίων), from the root דָּרַג Song of Solomon 2:14; Ezekiel 38:20.
