So He said to them, "You will indeed drink My cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with; [fn] but to sit on My right hand and on My left is not Mine to give, but it is for those for whom it is prepared by My Father."

just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many."

So Jesus stood still and called them, and said, "What do you want Me to do for you?"

But if we say, "From men,' we fear the multitude, for all count John as a prophet."

For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him; but tax collectors and harlots believed him; and when you saw it, you did not afterward relent and believe him.

But when they sought to lay hands on Him, they feared the multitudes, because they took Him for a prophet.

"The kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who arranged a marriage for his son,

"For many are called, but few are chosen."

And they sent to Him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, "Teacher, we know that You are true, and teach the way of God in truth; nor do You care about anyone, for You do not regard the person of men.

saying: "Teacher, Moses said that if a man dies, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife and raise up offspring for his brother.

Therefore, in the resurrection, whose wife of the seven will she be? For they all had her."

For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels of God [fn] in heaven.

Therefore whatever they tell you to observe, [fn] that observe and do, but do not do according to their works; for they say, and do not do.

For they bind heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers.

But you, do not be called 'Rabbi'; for One is your Teacher, the Christ, [fn] and you are all brethren.

Do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in heaven.

And do not be called teachers; for One is your Teacher, the Christ.

"But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut up the kingdom of heaven against men; for you neither go in yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in.

Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you devour widows' houses, and for a pretense make long prayers. Therefore you will receive greater condemnation. [fn]

"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel land and sea to win one proselyte, and when he is won, you make him twice as much a son of hell as yourselves.
