but when the flock was feeble, he didn't put them in: so the feebler were Laban's, and the stronger Jacob's.

And Laban went into Jacob's tent, and into Leah's tent, and into the tent of the two female slaves; but he didn't find them. And he went out of Leah's tent, and entered into Rachel's tent.

Now Rachel had taken the talismans, and put them in the camel's saddle, and sat on them. And Laban felt all about the tent, but didn't find them.

And she said to her father, Don't let my lord be angry that I can't rise up before you; for the manner of women is on me. And he searched, but didn't find the talismans.

And Laban called it Jegar-saha-dutha: but Jacob called it Galeed.

And he said, Your name will not be Jacob anymore, but Israel: for you have striven with God and with men, and have prevailed.

Ask me ever so much dowry and gift, and I will give according to as you shall say to me: but give me the damsel as wife.

But if you will not listen to us, to be circumcised; then we will take our daughter, and we will be gone.

And God said to him, Your name is Jacob: your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel shall be your name: and he named him Israel.

And it came to pass, as her soul was departing (for she died), that she named him Ben-oni: but his father called him Benjamin.

And his brothers envied him; but his father kept the saying in mind.
