*They* are of the world; for this reason they speak [as] of the world, and the world hears them.

He that loves not has not known God; for God is love.

Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son a propitiation for our sins.

There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear; for fear has torment, and he that fears has not been made perfect in love.

If any one say, I love God, and hate his brother, he is a liar: for he that loves not his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?

For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments; and his commandments are not grievous.

For all that has been begotten of God gets the victory over the world; and this is the victory which has gotten the victory over the world, our faith.

This is he that came by water and blood, Jesus [the] Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that bears witness, for the Spirit is the truth.

For they that bear witness are three:

If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater. For this is the witness of God [which] he has witnessed concerning his Son.

If any one see his brother sinning a sin not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life, for those that do not sin unto death. There is a sin to death: I do not say of that that he should make a request.

for the truth's sake which abides in us and shall be with us to eternity.

For many deceivers have gone out into the world, they who do not confess Jesus Christ coming in flesh—this is the deceiver and the antichrist.

for he who greets him partakes in his wicked works.

For I rejoiced exceedingly when [the] brethren came and bore testimony to thy [holding fast the] truth, even as *thou* walkest in truth.

for for the name have they gone forth, taking nothing of those of the nations.

For this reason, if I come, I will bring to remembrance his works which he does, babbling against us with wicked words; and not content with these, neither does he himself receive the brethren; and those who would he prevents, and casts [them] out of the assembly.

The elder to the beloved Gaius, whom I love in truth. Beloved, I desire that in all things thou shouldest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospers. I wrote something to the assembly; but Diotrephes, who loves to have the first place among them, receives us not. Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. He that does good is of God. He that does evil has not seen God. Demetrius has witness borne to him by all, and by the truth itself; and *we* also bear witness, and thou knowest that our witness is true. I had many things to write to thee, but I will not with ink and pen write to thee; but I hope soon to see thee, and we will speak mouth to mouth. Peace [be] to thee. The friends greet thee. Greet the friends by name.

Beloved, using all diligence to write to you of our common salvation, I have been obliged to write to you exhorting [you] to contend earnestly for the faith once delivered to the saints.

For certain men have got in unnoticed, they who of old were marked out beforehand to this sentence, ungodly [persons], turning the grace of our God into dissoluteness, and denying our only Master and Lord Jesus Christ.
