And some Pharisees came up to Jesus, testing Him, and began questioning Him whether it was lawful for a man to divorce his wife.
Mark 10:2
And the Pharisees came to him, and asked him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife? tempting him.
And He answered and said to them, "What did Moses command you?"
Mark 10:3
And he answered and said unto them, What did Moses command you?
They said, "Moses permitted a man to write a certificate of divorce and send his wife away."
Mark 10:4
And they said, Moses suffered to write a bill of divorcement, and to put her away.
But Jesus said to them, "Because of your hardness of heart he wrote you this commandment.
Mark 10:5
And Jesus answered and said unto them, For the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept.
"But from the beginning of creation, God CREATED THEM MALE AND FEMALE.
Mark 10:6
But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.
"FOR THIS REASON A MAN SHALL LEAVE HIS FATHER AND MOTHER,
Mark 10:7
For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife;
AND THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH; so they are no longer two, but one flesh.
Mark 10:8
And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh.
"Therefore, what God has joined together, no person is to separate."
Mark 10:9
What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
And in the house the disciples again began questioning Him about this.
Mark 10:10
And in the house his disciples asked him again of the same matter.
And He said to them, "Whoever divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery against her;
Mark 10:11
And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her.
and if she herself divorces her husband and marries another man, she is committing adultery."
Mark 10:12
And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery.
