And Jesus was saying to them, "Truly I say to you, there are some of those who are standing here who will not taste death until they see the kingdom of God when it has come with power."
Mark 9:1
And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That there be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power.
And six days later Jesus took with Him Peter, James, and John, and brought them up on a high mountain by themselves. And He was transfigured before them;
Mark 9:2
And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter, and James, and John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart by themselves: and he was transfigured before them.
and His garments became radiant and exceedingly white, as no launderer on earth can whiten them.
Mark 9:3
And his raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow; so as no fuller on earth can white them.
And Elijah appeared to them along with Moses; and they were talking with Jesus.
Mark 9:4
And there appeared unto them Elias with Moses: and they were talking with Jesus.
Peter responded and said to Jesus, "Rabbi, it is good that we are here; let's make three tabernacles, one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah."
Mark 9:5
And Peter answered and said to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.
For he did not know how to reply; for they became terrified.
Mark 9:6
For he wist not what to say; for they were sore afraid.
Then a cloud formed, overshadowing them, and a voice came out of the cloud: "This is My beloved Son; listen to Him!"
Mark 9:7
And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.
And suddenly they looked around and saw no one with them anymore, except Jesus alone.
Mark 9:8
And suddenly, when they had looked round about, they saw no man any more, save Jesus only with themselves.
As they were coming down from the mountain, He gave them orders not to relate to anyone what they had seen, until the Son of Man rose from the dead.
Mark 9:9
And as they came down from the mountain, he charged them that they should tell no man what things they had seen, till the Son of man were risen from the dead.
They seized upon that statement, discussing with one another what rising from the dead meant.
Mark 9:10
And they kept that saying with themselves, questioning one with another what the rising from the dead should mean.
And they asked Him, saying, "Why is it that the scribes say that Elijah must come first?"
Mark 9:11
And they asked him, saying, Why say the scribes that Elias must first come?
And He said to them, "Elijah does come first and he restores all things. And yet how is it written of the Son of Man that He will suffer many things and be treated with contempt?
Mark 9:12
And he answered and told them, Elias verily cometh first, and restoreth all things; and how it is written of the Son of man, that he must suffer many things, and be set at nought.
"But I say to you that Elijah has indeed come, and they did to him whatever they wanted, just as it is written of him."
Mark 9:13
But I say unto you, That Elias is indeed come, and they have done unto him whatsoever they listed, as it is written of him.
And when they came back to the other disciples, they saw a large crowd around them, and some scribes arguing with them.
Mark 9:14
And when he came to his disciples, he saw a great multitude about them, and the scribes questioning with them.
Immediately, when the entire crowd saw Him, they were amazed and began running up to greet Him.
Mark 9:15
And straightway all the people, when they beheld him, were greatly amazed, and running to him saluted him.
And He asked them, "What are you disputing with them?"
Mark 9:16
And he asked the scribes, What question ye with them?
And one person from the crowd answered Him, "Teacher, I brought You my son, because he has a spirit that makes him unable to speak;
Mark 9:17
And one of the multitude answered and said, Master, I have brought unto thee my son, which hath a dumb spirit;
and whenever it seizes him, it slams him to the ground, and he foams at the mouth and grinds his teeth and becomes stiff. And I told Your disciples so that they would cast it out, but they could not do it."
Mark 9:18
And wheresoever he taketh him, he teareth him: and he foameth, and gnasheth with his teeth, and pineth away: and I spake to thy disciples that they should cast him out; and they could not.
And He answered them and said, "O unbelieving generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring him to Me!"
Mark 9:19
He answereth him, and saith, O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him unto me.
And they brought the boy to Him. When he saw Him, the spirit immediately threw him into convulsions, and falling to the ground, he began rolling around and foaming at the mouth.
Mark 9:20
And they brought him unto him: and when he saw him, straightway the spirit tare him; and he fell on the ground, and wallowed foaming.
And He asked his father, "How long has this been happening to him?" And he said, "From childhood.
Mark 9:21
And he asked his father, How long is it ago since this came unto him? And he said, Of a child.
"It has often thrown him both into the fire and into the water to kill him. But if You can do anything, take pity on us and help us!"
Mark 9:22
And ofttimes it hath cast him into the fire, and into the waters, to destroy him: but if thou canst do any thing, have compassion on us, and help us.
But Jesus said to him, "'If You can'? All things are possible for the one who believes."
Mark 9:23
Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.
Immediately the boy's father cried out and said, "I do believe; help my unbelief!"
Mark 9:24
And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.
When Jesus saw that a crowd was rapidly gathering, He rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it, "You mute and deaf spirit, I command you, come out of him and do not enter him again!"
Mark 9:25
When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him.
And after crying out and throwing him into terrible convulsions, it came out; and the boy became so much like a corpse that most of them said, "He is dead!"
Mark 9:26
And the spirit cried, and rent him sore, and came out of him: and he was as one dead; insomuch that many said, He is dead.
But Jesus took him by the hand and raised him, and he got up.
Mark 9:27
But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose.
When He came into the house, His disciples began asking Him privately, "Why is it that we could not cast it out?"
Mark 9:28
And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, Why could not we cast him out?
And He said to them, "This kind cannot come out by anything except prayer."
Mark 9:29
And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.
And from there they went out and began to go through Galilee, and He did not want anyone to know about it.
Mark 9:30
And they departed thence, and passed through Galilee; and he would not that any man should know it.
For He was teaching His disciples and telling them, "The Son of Man is to be handed over to men, and they will kill Him; and when He has been killed, He will rise three days later."
Mark 9:31
For he taught his disciples, and said unto them, The Son of man is delivered into the hands of men, and they shall kill him; and after that he is killed, he shall rise the third day.
But they did not understand this statement, and they were afraid to ask Him.
Mark 9:32
But they understood not that saying, and were afraid to ask him.
They came to Capernaum; and when He was in the house, He began to question them: "What were you discussing on the way?"
Mark 9:33
And he came to Capernaum: and being in the house he asked them, What was it that ye disputed among yourselves by the way?
But they kept silent, for on the way they had discussed with one another which of them was the greatest.
Mark 9:34
But they held their peace: for by the way they had disputed among themselves, who should be the greatest.
And sitting down, He called the twelve and said to them, "If anyone wants to be first, he shall be last of all and servant of all."
Mark 9:35
And he sat down, and called the twelve, and saith unto them, If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all.
And He took a child and placed him among them, and taking him in His arms, He said to them,
Mark 9:36
And he took a child, and set him in the midst of them: and when he had taken him in his arms, he said unto them,
"Whoever receives one child like this in My name receives Me; and whoever receives Me does not receive Me, but Him who sent Me."
Mark 9:37
Whosoever shall receive one of such children in my name, receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me, receiveth not me, but him that sent me.
John said to Him, "Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us."
Mark 9:38
And John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name, and he followeth not us: and we forbad him, because he followeth not us.
But Jesus said, "Do not hinder him, for there is no one who will perform a miracle in My name, and be able soon afterward to speak evil of Me.
Mark 9:39
But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me.
"For the one who is not against us is for us.
Mark 9:40
For he that is not against us is on our part.
"For whoever gives you a cup of water to drink because of your name as followers of Christ, truly I say to you, he shall by no means lose his reward.
Mark 9:41
For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward.
"Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it is better for him if a heavy millstone is hung around his neck and he is thrown into the sea.
Mark 9:42
And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea.
"And if your hand causes you to sin, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life maimed, than, having your two hands, to go into hell, into the unquenchable fire.
Mark 9:43
And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:
"And if your foot is causing you to sin, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life without a foot, than, having your two feet, to be thrown into hell.

Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
"And if your eye is causing you to sin, throw it away; it is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye, than, having two eyes, to be thrown into hell,
Mark 9:47
And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:
where THEIR WORM DOES NOT DIE, AND THE FIRE IS NOT EXTINGUISHED.
Mark 9:48
Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
"For everyone will be salted with fire.
Mark 9:49
And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire:
"Salt is good; but if the salt becomes unsalty, with what will you make it salty again? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another."
Mark 9:50
Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
