(Strong's #4981 — Noun Feminine — schole — schol-ay' )

(whence Eng., "school") primarily denotes "leisure," then, "that for which leisure was employed, a disputation, lecture;" hence, by metonymy, "the place where lectures are delivered, a school," Acts 19:9 .
