גֹּב Ch. emph. גֻּבָּא a den, where lions were kept, Daniel 6:8, seq. In Targ. for the Hebrew בּוֹר, Syriac ܓܘܽܒܐܳ, ܓܘܽܡܬܐܳ, Arabic جُبُّ, Ethiopic ግብ፡ id. [Root גּוּב.]

גֹּב & גּוֹב (“pit, cistern”), [Gob], pr.n. of a place otherwise unknown, 2 Samuel 21:18, 19 2 Samuel 21:19, for which there is in the parallel place, 1 Chronicles 20:4, גֶּזֶר.
