Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you go about the sea and the dry land to make one proselyte; and when he has become so, you make him twofold more a son of Hell than yourselves.

Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay tithes of mint and dill and cummin, and you have left aside the weightier matters of the Law: judgment, and mercy, and faith. It was right to do these, and not to have leftthose aside.

Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you cleanse the outside of the cup and of the dish, but within they are full of robbery and excess.

Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitened graves which outwardly indeed appear beautiful, but within are full of bones of the dead, and of all uncleanness.

Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you build the tombs of the prophets, and adorn the tombs of the righteous.

Because of this, behold, I send to you prophets and wise ones and scribes. And some of them you will kill and crucify, and some of them you will flog in your synagogues and will persecute from city to city;

Then the chief priests and the scribes and the elders of the people were assembled to the court of the high priest, the one named Caiaphas.

And those who had seized Jesus led Him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled.

And in the same way, the chief priests with the scribes and elders, mocking, said,

And they were astounded at His doctrine, for He was teaching them as having authority, and not as the scribes.

But some of the scribes were sitting there and reasoning in their hearts,

And the scribes and Pharisees seeing Him eating with tax collectors and sinners, they said to His disciples, Why is it that He eats and drinks with the tax collectors and sinners?

And coming down from Jerusalem, the scribes said, He has Beelzebub; and He casts out demons by the ruler of the demons.

And the Pharisees were assembled to Him, also some of the scribes, coming from Jerusalem.

Then the Pharisees and scribes questioned Him, Why do your disciples not walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashed hands?

And He began to teach them that it is necessary for the Son of Man to suffer many things and to be rejected of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and to be killed, and after three days to rise again.

And they asked Him, saying, Do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?

And coming to the disciples, He saw a great crowd around them, and scribes arguing with them.

And He questioned the scribes, What are you arguing with them?

Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem. And the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and to the scribes. And they will condemn Him to death and will betray Him to the nations.
