Then the governors and the generals came before the king, and said to him, King Darius, live for ever!

All the governors of the kingdom, the princes, the generals, and the lords have consulted together to establish a royal statute and to make a firm decree that whosoever shall ask a petition of any god or man for thirty days, except of you, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions.

And they came near and said before the king, O king, live for ever! Did you not decree and sign, O king, that whosoever shall ask a petition of any god or man within thirty days, except of you, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions? The king answered and said, The decree is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which cannot be altered.

Then Daniel spoke to the king and said, O king, live for ever!

Then the king was exceedingly glad for him, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no manner of hurt was found upon him, because he believed in his God.

I make a decree that in every dominion of my kingdom men tremble and fear before the God of Daniel; for he is the living God and endures for ever, and his kingdom shall not be destroyed and his dominion shall be even to the end.

He saves and rescues and delivers and performs signs and wonders in heaven and on earth, for he has rescued Daniel from the power of the lions.

As for the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away, yet their lives were prolonged for a season and a time.

As for me, Daniel, my spirit was grieved in my bed and the visions of my head troubled me.

But the saints of the Most High shall receive the kingdom and possess it for ever and ever.

And as for the ten horns out of this kingdom, they are ten kings that shall arise and another king shall arise after them; and he shall be greater than the first, and he shall defeat three kings.

And he shall speak words against the Most High, and shall plot against the saints of the Most High, and think to change times and laws; and they shall be given into his hand for a time, times, and half a time.

Hitherto is the end of the matter. As for me, Daniel, my thoughts troubled me greatly and my countenance changed in me; but I kept the matter in my heart.

And he said to him, For two thousand and three hundred days; then righteousness shall prevail.

So he came near where I stood; and when he came, I was afraid and fell upon my face; but he said to me, Understand, O Son of man; for at the time of the end shall be the vision.

And he said to me, Behold, I will show you what shall be at the latter end of the indignation; for at the expiration of the time appointed the end shall be.

And as for the horn that was broken, and there rose four others under it, four kings shall rise up out of the nation, but not by their own power.

And the vision of the morning and the evening which has been told is true; and as for you, Daniel, keep this vision a secret, for it shall not be for many days.

And I, Daniel, trembled and was troubled for some days; then I rose up and did the kings business; and I was astonished at the vision, but none understood it.

To the LORD God belong mercies and forgiveness of sins, for we have rebelled against him;
