When he had said these things to them, the scribes and the Pharisees were displeased, and they were enraged and criticized his words.

And Jesus answered and said to the scribes and Pharisees, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath?

And the scribes and Pharisees murmured, saying, He receives even the sinners and eats with them.

And he taught every day in the temple. But the high priests and the scribes and the elders of the people sought to get rid of him;

So he went away, and spoke with the high priests and the scribes and officers of the temple, about delivering him to them.

As soon as it was daybreak, the elders and the high priests and the scribes gathered together, and brought him up to their council chamber.

But the high priests and the scribes stood, and accused him bitterly.

Then the scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman who was caught in adultery; and they made her to stand in the midst.

And the next day, the leaders and the elders and the scribes gathered together;

And they stirred up the people and the elders and the scribes, and they rose up against him and seized him and brought him into the midst of the council.

Then there arose a great cry: and the scribes that were of the party of the Phar''i-sees rose up, and argued, saying, We find no fault with this man: and if a spirit or an angel has spoken to him, there is nothing wrong in that.

But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and the theological arguments of the scribes, for they are unprofitable and vain.
