a Scotch prelate, was of the family of Balmashannar, in the shire of Angus, and wa provost of the collegiate church of Corstorphine, ans chaplain to king James V, by whom he was put into the office of high-treasurer upon the fall of the earl of Angus, Sept. 5, 1528. He was soon after made abbol of Holyrood, but was turned out in 1529. He was made bishop of Ross in 1540, and was, by the parliament appointed to be one of the lords of the council to the governor, the earl of Arran. He joined with the rest of the clergy in opposing the treaty of peace with England, and the marriage of the infant queen with the prince of Wales. He probably died in 1545.
