Heb. Putiel', פּוּטַיאֵל, afflicted of God; Sept. Φουτιήλ ), the father of the wife of Eleazar the priest and the mother of Phinehas (Exodus 6:25). B.C. cir. 1619. In modern Jewish traditions Putiel is confounded with Jethro the Midianite, "who fatted the calves for idolatrous worship" (Targum Pseudojon.
