(Heb. text Sheya', שְׁיָא, margin Sheva', שְוָא in Samuel), the name of two Hebrews.

1. (Sept. Σαού v.r. Σαούλ; Vulg. Sue.) Last named of ine four sons of Caleb ben-Hezron by his concubine Maachah. He was the "father, " i.e. founder or chief, of. Machbena and Gibea (1 Chronicles 2:49). B.C. cir. 1612.

2. (Sept. Σουσά v.r. Ισο υς .) The scribe or royal secretary of David (2 Samuel 20:25); elsewhere called Seraiah (2 Samuel 7:17), Shisha (1 Kings 4:3), and Shavsha (1 Chronicles 16:18).
