Walther, Rudolph
Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature
or a Reformed theologian Of Germany, was born at Zurich, Nov. 9, 1519. He studied at different places, visited England, and, after his return, he continued his studies at Marburg. Here he attracted the attention of the landgrave, Philip of Hesse, who took him in 1541 to Ratisbon, where he acted as clerical secretary. Here he made the acquaintance of Melancthon, Bucer, Sturm, Cruciger, and others. After his return, he was appointed pastor at Schwammeldingen, and in 1542 pastor of St. Peter's at Zurich. He died Nov. 25, 1586.
