primarily "a table," denotes (a) an eating-table, e.g., Matthew 15:27; (b) food, etc. placed on "a table," Acts 6:2; 16:34; (c) "a feast, a banquet," 1 Corinthians 10:21; (d) "the table or stand" of a money-changer, where he exchanged money for a fee, or dealt with loans and deposits, Matthew 21:12; Mark 11:15; Luke 19:23; John 2:15 . a "money-changer, broker, banker;" translated "bankers" in Matthew 25:27 , RV (AV, "exchangers").
