an English Congregational divine, was born at Trowbridge, June 19, 1809. In his seventeenth year he was converted in the Tabernacle at Trowbridge. In 1830 he entered Hackney College as a student for the ministry. Having completed his course in 1834, he offered himself to the London Missionary Society to work among the freed blacks of Jamaica, and was immediately sent. Mr. Alloway occupied successively three stations of the mission Dry Harbor in 1835, Porus in 1842, and Ridgemount, Mandeville, in 1856, where he died Jan. 19, 1877.
