1 Chronicles 17:12 — Verse 1 Chronicles 17:12. I will establish his throne for ever. — David was a type of Christ; and concerning him the prophecy is literally true. See Isaiah 9:7, where there is evidently the same reference.

1 Chronicles 3:9 — Verse 1 Chronicles 3:9. And Tamar their sister. — This is the only daughter of David whose name is on record; and yet he is said to have had both SONS and DAUGHTERS, 2 Samuel 5:13.

2 Chronicles 9:25 — Verse 2 Chronicles 9:25. Four thousand stalls for horses — 1 Kings 4:26, where the different numbers in these two books are considered. The Targum, instead of four thousand, has ארבע מאה arba meah, four hundred.

Nehemiah 3:12 — Verse Nehemiah 3:12. The son of Halohesh — Or, the son of the Enchanter: conjectured to be thus named from having the art to charm serpents.The ruler of the half part — See on Nehemiah 3:9.

Esther 6:9 — Verse Esther 6:9. One of the king's most noble princes — Alas, Poor Haman! Never was the fable of the dog and shadow more literally fulfilled. Thou didst gape at the shadow, and didst lose the substance.

Esther 6:9 — Verso Ester 6:9 . Uno de los príncipes más nobles del rey. ¡Ay, pobre Amán! Nunca se cumplió más literalmente la fábula del perro y la sombra. Te quedaste mirando la sombra, y perdiste la esencia.

Psalms 68:9 — Verse Psalms 68:9. Didst send a plentiful rain — גשם נדבות geshem nedaboth, a shower of liberality. I believe this to refer to the manna by which God refreshed and preserved alive the weary and hungry Israelites.

Jeremiah 52:24 — Verse Jeremiah 52:24. The second priest — 2 Kings 25:18.The three keepers — The priests who stood at the door to receive the offerings of the people, see 2 Kings 20:9; 2 Kings 23:4.

Ezekiel 27:5 — Verse Ezekiel 27:5. Fir trees of Senir — Senir is a mountain which the Sidonians called Sirion, and the Hebrews Hermon, Deuteronomy 3:9. It was beyond Jordan, and extended from Libanus to the mountains of Gilead.

Ezekiel 28:9 — Verse Ezekiel 28:9. Wilt thou yet say before him that slayeth thee — Wilt thou continue thy pride and arrogance when the sword is sheathed in thee, and still imagine that thou art self-sufficient and independent?

Numbers 19:9 — Verse Numbers 19:9. For a water of separation — That is, the ashes were to be kept, in order to be mixed with water, Numbers 19:17, and sprinkled on those who had contracted any legal defilement.

Numbers 22:23 — Verse Numbers 22:23. And the ass saw the angel — When God granted visions those alone who were particularly interested saw them while others in the same company saw nothing; see Daniel 10:7; Acts 9:7.

Obadiah 1:9 — Verse Obadiah 1:9. Thy mighty men, O Teman — This was one of the strongest places in Idumea; and is put here, as in Amos 1:12, and elsewhere, for Idumea itself.Mount of Esau — Mount Seir.

Luke 19:3 — Verse Luke 19:3. And he sought to see Jesus who he was — So the mere principle of curiosity in him led to his conversion and salvation, and to that of his whole family, Luke 19:9.

Luke 8:41 — Verse 41. A man named Jairus — See these two miracles-the raising of Jairus's daughter, and the cure of the afflicted woman - considered and explained at large, on Matthew 9:18-26, and Mark 5:22-43.

Acts 9:12 — Verse Acts 9:12. Hath seen in a vision — While God prepares Ananias, by a vision, to go and minister to Saul, he at the same time prepares Saul, by another vision, to profit by this ministry.

Romans 16:9 — Verse Romans 16:9. Urbane, our helper — Who this Urbanus was we know not; what is here stated is, that he had been a fellow labourer with the apostles.Stachys, my beloved. — One of my particular friends.

Galatians 5:14 — Verse 14. For all the law — Which respects our duty to our fellows, is fulfilled-is comprehended, in one word: Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. Matthew 19:19; Matthew 19:19, and "Romans 13:9".

Joshua 9:16 — Verse Joshua 9:16. At the end of three days — Gibeon is reputed to be only about eight leagues distant from Gilgal, and on this account the fraud might be easily discovered in the time mentioned above.
