Exodus 5:16 — Verse Exodus 5:16. The fault is in thine own people. — חטאת chatath, the SIN, is in thy own people. 1st. Because they require impossibilities; and 2dly, because they punish us for not doing what cannot be performed.
Ezra 9:5 — Verse Ezra 9:5. Fell upon my knees — In token of the deepest humility. Spread out my hands, as if to lay hold on the mercy of God. We have already had occasion to explain these significant acts.
Nehemiah 8:5 — Verse Nehemiah 8:5. All the people stood up — This was out of respect to the sacred word: in imitation of this, when the gospel for the day is read in our churches, all the people stand up.

Ezekiel 29:5 — Verse Ezekiel 29:5. I will leave thee thrown into the wilderness — Referring to his being obliged to take refuge in Upper Egypt. But he was afterwards taken prisoner, and strangled by Amasis. Herod. lib. ii. s. 169.
