1 Kings 17:7 — Verse 1 Kings 17:7. The brook dried up — Because there had been no rain in the land for some time, God having sent this drought as a testimony against the idolatry of the people: see Deuteronomy 11:16-17.

1 Kings 7:21 — Verse 1 Kings 7:21. The right pillar - Jachin — is, He shall establish. The left pillar - Boaz, that is, in strength. These were no doubt emblematical; for notwithstanding their names, they seem to have supported no part of the building.

2 Kings 16:5 — Verse 2 Kings 16:5. But could not overcome him.] It is likely that this was the time when Isaiah was sent to console Ahaz; (see Isaiah 7:1;) and predicted the death both of Rezin and Pekah, his enemies.

2 Kings 7:6 — Verse 2 Kings 7:6. The Lord had made the - Syrians to hear a noise — This threw them into confusion; they imagined that they were about to be attacked by powerful auxiliaries, which the king of Israel had hired against them.

2 Chronicles 31:7 — Verse 2 Chronicles 31:7. In the third month — "The month Sivan; the seventh, Tisri." - Targum.The heaps — The vast collections of grain which they had from the tithes over and above their own consumption; see 2 Chronicles 31:10.

2 Chronicles 7:5 — Verse 2 Chronicles 7:5. Twenty and two thousand oxen, &c. — The amount of all the victims that had been offered during the seven days of the feast of tabernacles, and the seven days of the feast of the dedication.

Job 18:7 — Verse Job 18:7. The steps of his strength — Even in his greatest prosperity he shall be in straits and difficulties.His own counsel — He shall be the dupe and the victim of his own airy, ambitious, and impious schemes.

Proverbs 7:12 — Verse Proverbs 7:12. Now is she without — She is continually exposing herself, and showing by her gait and gestures what she is, and what she wants. These two verses are a parenthesis, intended to show the character of the woman.

Song of Solomon 5:7 — Verse Song of Solomon 5:7. Took away my veil — They tore it off rudely, to discover who she was. See on Song of Solomon 5:2. To tear the veil signifies, in Eastern phrase, to deflower or dishonour a woman.

Isaiah 1:17 — Versículo Isaías 1:17 . Aliviar a los oprimidos - "Enmendar lo que está corrompido " אשרו חמוץ asheru chamots. Al traducir esta oscura frase sigo a Bochart ( Hieroz . Part i., lib. ii., cap. 7.), aunque no estoy perfectamente satisfecho con esta explicación.

Jeremiah 14:7 — Versículo Jeremias 14:7 . Oh Señor, aunque nuestras iniquidades testifiquen contra nosotros. Reconocemos profundamente que hemos pecado, y no merecemos nada más que la muerte. Sin embargo, actúa por causa de tu nombre, trabaja en nuestro favor, para que no perezcamos.

Ezekiel 7:15 — Verse Ezekiel 7:15. The sword is without — War through all the country, and pestilence and famine within the city, shall destroy the whole, except a small remnant. He who endeavours to flee from the one shall fall by the other.

1 Corinthians 3:7 — Verse 1 Corinthians 3:7. So then, neither is he that planteth any thing — God alone should have all the glory, as the seed is his, the ground is his, the labourers are his, and the produce all comes from himself.
