Job 14:9 — Verse Job 14:9. Through the scent of water it will bud — A fine metaphor: the water acts upon the decaying and perishing tree, as strong and powerful odours from musk, otto of roses, ammonia, &c., act on a fainting or swooning person.

Job 22:9 — Verse Job 22:9. The arms of the fatherless — Whatever strength or power or property they had, of that thou hast deprived them. Thou hast been hard-hearted and cruel, and hast enriched thyself with the spoils of the poor and the defenceless.

Psalms 102:9 — Versículo Salmo 102:9 . Psalms 107:9 — Verse Psalms 107:9. For he satisfieth the longing soul — This is the reason which the psalmist gives for the duty of thankfulness which he prescribes. The longing soul, נפש שוקקה nephesh shokekah, the soul that pushes forward in eager desire after salvation.

Psalms 38:9 — Verse Psalms 38:9. Lord, all my desire is before thee — I long for nothing so much as thy favour; and for this my heart is continually going out after thee. Instead of אדני Adonai, Lord, several of Dr. Kennicott's MSS. have יהוהYehovah.

Psalms 9:2 — Verse Psalms 9:2. I will be glad and rejoice in thee — I am glad that thou hast heard my prayer, and showed me mercy; and I will rejoice in thee, in having thee as my portion, dwelling and working in my heart.

Psalms 95:9 — Versículo Salmo 95:9 . Cuando vuestros padres me tentaron. Me probaron , con su insolencia, incredulidad y blasfemia. Me pusieron a prueba , tenían plena prueba de mi poder para salvar y destruir. Allí vieron mis obras , vieron que nada era demasiado difícil para Dios.

Proverbs 10:9 — Versículo Proverbios 10:9 . El que camina en integridad. El hombre recto siempre está a salvo ; no tiene dos personajes que sustentar; va directo hacia adelante y nunca teme ser descubierto , porque nunca ha sido influenciado por la hipocresía o el engaño .

Proverbs 9:4 — Verse Proverbs 9:4. Whoso is simple — Let the young, heedless, and giddy attend to my teaching.Him that wanteth understanding — Literally, he that wanteth a heart; who is without courage, is feeble and fickle, and easily drawn aside from the holy commandment.

Habakkuk 2:9 — Verse 9. An evil covetousness to his house — Nebuchadnezzar wished to aggrandize his family, and make his empire permanent: but both family and empire were soon cut off by the death of his son Belshazzar, and the consequent destruction of the Chaldean empire.

Zechariah 10:9 — Versículo Zacarías 10:9 . Los sembraré entre la gente. Dondequiera que se hayan dispersado, mi voz en la predicación del Evangelio los alcanzará. Y se acordarán de mí , y ellos y sus hijos se volverán al Señor , por medio del Mesías su Rey.

Zechariah 8:9 — Verse Zechariah 8:9. By the mouth of the prophets — The day or time of the foundation was about two years before, as this discourse of the prophet was in the fourth year of Darius. After this God raised up prophets among them.

Acts 25:9 — Verse Acts 25:9. Willing to do the Jews a pleasure — This was merely to please them, and conciliate their esteem; for he knew that, as Paul was a Roman citizen, he could not oblige him to take a new trial at Jerusalem.

Acts 9:4 — Verse Acts 9:4. And he fell to the earth — Being struck down with the lightning: many persons suppose he was on horseback, and painters thus represent him; but this is utterly without foundation. Painters are, in almost every case, wretched commentators.

Hebrews 9:13 — Verse Hebrews 9:13. Sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh — Answers the end proposed by the law; namely, to remove legal disabilities and punishments, having the body and its interests particularly in view, though adumbrating or typifying the soul and its concerns.
