1 Chronicles 28:4 Verse 1 Chronicles 28:4. Over Israel for ever — The government should have no end, provided they continued to walk according to the commandments of God; see 1 Chronicles 28:7. The government, as referring to Christ, is, and will be, without end.
Job 9:4 Verse Job 9:4. He is wise in heart, and mighty in strength — By his infinite knowledge he searches out and sees all things, and by his almighty power he can punish all delinquencies. He that rebels against him must be destroyed.
Psalms 135:4 Verse Psalms 135:4. For the Lord hath chosen Jacob — This is a third reason. He has taken the Israelites for his peculiar people, סגלתו segullatho, his peculiar treasure; and now has brought them home to himself from their captivity and wanderings.

Jeremiah 4:7 Verse Jeremiah 4:7. The lion is come up — Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon. "The king (Nebuchadnezzar) is come up from his tower." - Targum.The destroyer of the Gentiles — Of the nations: of all the people who resisted his authority. He destroyed them all.
Jeremiah 46:4 Verse Jeremiah 46:4. Furbish the spears — Cleanse, brighten, and sharpen them; from the Franco-Gallic fourbir, to polish, brighten.Brigandines. — A coat of mail, especially that which was made scale fashion; one plate overlapping the other, like the scales of fish.
Hosea 11:7 Verse Hosea 11:7. Though they called them to the Most High — Newcome is better: "And though they call on him together because of the yoke, he will not raise it. He shall receive no refreshment." See the metaphor, Hosea 11:4.
Matthew 9:30 Verse 30. Straitly charged them — He charged them severely, from ενεβριμησατο, from εν, and βριμαομαι, to roar or storm with anger; he charged them, on pain of his displeasure, not to make it as yet public. See the reasons, Clarke "Matthew 8:4".
Acts 9:4 Verse Acts 9:4. And he fell to the earth — Being struck down with the lightning: many persons suppose he was on horseback, and painters thus represent him; but this is utterly without foundation. Painters are, in almost every case, wretched commentators.
