Genesis 4:16 — Verse Genesis 4:16. The land of Nod — As נוד nod signifies the same as נד sa, a vagabond, some think this verse should be rendered, And Cain went out from the presence of the Lord, from the east of Eden, and dwelt a vagabond on the earth; thus the curse pronounced on him, Genesis 4:12, was accomplished.
Genesis 4:16 — Verso Génesis 4:16. La tierra de Nod… Como נוד nod significa lo mismo que נד sa , un vagabundo , algunos piensan que este verso debe ser traducido: Y Caín salió de la presencia del Señor, desde el este de Edén, y habitó un vagabundo en la tierra ; así se cumplió la maldición pronunciada sobre él, Génesis 4:12.
Exodus 4:27 — Verse Exodus 4:27. The Lord said to Aaron — See Exodus 4:14. By some secret but powerful movement on Aaron's mind, or by some voice or angelic ministry, he was now directed to go and meet his brother Moses; and so correctly was the information given to both, that they arrived at the same time on the sacred mountain.

Psalms 120:4 — Verse Psalms 120:4. Sharp arrows — The Chaldee has, "The strong, sharp arrows are like lightning from above, with coals of juniper kindled in hell beneath." On the juniper, Job 30:4, where this passage is explained. Fiery arrows, or arrows wrapped about with inflamed combustibles, were formerly used in sieges to set the places on fire. Ephesians 6:16.
Proverbs 11:31 — Verse Proverbs 11:31. Behold, the righteous shall be recompensed in the earth, c. — The Septuagint, Syrian, and Arabic read this verse as follows: "And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?" And this St. Peter quotes literatim, 1 Peter 4:18, where see the note. "See Clarke "1 Peter 4:18".
Daniel 4:4 — Verse Daniel 4:4. I - was at rest — I had returned to my palace in Babylon after having subdued Syria, Phoenicia, Judea, Egypt, and Arabia. It was probably these great conquests that puffed him up with pride, and brought that chastisement upon him which he afterwards describes. See the dream of the emblematical tree explained.

Matthew 27:65 — Verse Matthew 27:65. Ye have a watch — The Jews had a corps of Roman troops, consisting of several companies, as a guard for the temple, Acts 4:1. These companies mounted guard by turns, see Luke 22:4. Some of these companies, which were not then on duty, Pilate gave them leave to employ to watch the tomb.

Mark 4:4 — Verse Mark 4:4. The fowls — του ουρανου, of the air, is the common reading; but it should be omitted, on the authority of nine uncial MSS., upwards of one hundred others, and almost all the versions. Bengel and Griesbach have left it out of the text. It seems to have been inserted in Mark, from Luke 8:5.

Romans 4:4 — Verse Romans 4:4. Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. — Therefore, if Abraham had been justified by works, the blessings he received would have been given to him as a reward for those works, and consequently his believing could have had no part in his justification, and his faith would have been useless.
Ephesians 4:4 — Verse Ephesians 4:4. There is one body — Viz. of Christ, which is his Church.One Spirit — The Holy Ghost, who animates this body.One hope — Of everlasting glory, to which glory ye have been called by the preaching of the Gospel; through which ye have become the body of Christ, instinct with the energy of the Holy Ghost.

Philemon 1:24 — Verse Philemon 1:24. Marcus, Aristarchus, c.] These were all acquaintances of Philemon, and probably Colossians and may be all considered as joining here with St. Paul in his request for Onesimus. Some think that Marcus was either the evangelist, or John Mark, the nephew
