Genesis 15:13 — Verse Genesis 15:13. Four hundred years — "Which began," says Mr. Ainsworth, "when Ishmael, son of Hagar, mocked and persecuted Isaac, Genesis 21:9; Galatians 4:29; which fell out thirty years after the promise, Genesis 12:3; which promise was four hundred and thirty years before the law, Galatians 3:17; and four hundred and thirty years after that promise came Israel out of Egypt, Exodus 12:41."

Proverbs 9:13 — Versículo Proverbios 9:13 . Una mujer necia es clamorosa. Mujeres vanas, vacías, son las que más ruido hacen . Y la que está llena de clamor, tiene generalmente poco o ningún sentido común . Ya hemos tenido este personaje, ver Proverbios 7:11. La traducción de la Septuaginta es muy notable: Γυνη αφρων και θρασεια, ενδεης ψωμου γινεται, "Una mujer lasciva e insensata tendrá necesidad de un bocado de pan".

Jeremiah 3:24 — Versículo Jeremias 3:24 . Porque la vergüenza ha devorado. La palabra vergüenza , aquí y en Jeremias 11:13 ; Oseas 9:10 significa Baal, el ídolo que adoraban. Esa cosa o vergüenza que te ha llevado al desprecio, la confusión y la ruina. Tarde o temprano todo pecador debe avergonzarse de su conducta; luego, confundido ; y, finalmente, arruinado por ella, a menos que por verdadera fe y sincero arrepentimiento regrese al Señor.

Jeremiah 9:21 — Versículo Jeremias 9:21 . Porque la muerte ha subido por nuestras ventanas. Aquí la MUERTE está personificada, y representada como escalando su muro; y después de haber matado a los niños juguetones afuera, y a la juventud vigorosa empleada en los trabajos del campo, ahora ha venido a las casas privadas para destruir a los ancianos y enfermos; y en los palacios, para destruir al rey y a los príncipes.

Ezekiel 6:9 — Versículo Ezequiel 6:9 . Daniel 9:2 — Versículo Daniel 9:2 . Yo Daniel entendiendo por los libros. La profecía a la que se hace referencia aquí se encuentra en Jeremias 25:12 ; Jeremias 29:10 . Los sacerdotes idólatras allí se formaron en compañías y mantuvieron la posesión de los caminos y pasos; y si encontraban a alguien que iba a Jerusalén a adorar al Dios verdadero, lo mataban. La razón se da: - Porque cometen lascivia.  Son grandes idólatras.

Hosea 9:7 — Versículo Oseas 9:7 . Los días de la visitación. Del castigo han llegado . Es un necio el profeta que ha pretendido vaticinar, con autoridad divina, paz y abundancia; porque he aquí todo es desolación. El hombre espiritual. איש הרוח ish haruach , el hombre de espíritu , que siempre pretendía estar bajo un afflatus Divino . Está loco. Ahora está furioso al ver que todo sale en contra de su predicción.

Micah 2:3 — Versículo Miqueas 2:3 . Contra esta familia (los israelitas) planeo un mal. Has tramado el mal de saquear a los rectos; Te inventaré el mal de castigo por tu conducta; vuestros cuellos tendréis sometidos al yugo de servidumbre. Tiglat-pileser arruinó este reino y llevó al pueblo a Asiria, bajo el reinado de Ezequías, rey de Judá; y Miqueas vivió para ver esta catástrofe. Ver Miqueas 2:9 .

Matthew 12:7 — Verso Mateo 12:7. Tendré piedad...  Vea esto explicado, Mateo 9:13. Hay cuatro formas en las que las leyes positivas pueden dejar de obligar. Primero, por la ley natural de necesidad . Matthew 23:9 — Verso Mateo 23:9. No llames a hombre  PADRE...  Nuestro Señor probablemente alude al AB, o padre del Sanedrín, que era el siguiente después del nasi , o presidente. Ver en Mateo 20:21. Por lo cual da a entender a sus discípulos que no tendría un SEGUNDO, después de él, establecido en su Iglesia, de la cual él solo era el cabeza ; y esa perfecta igualdad debe subsistir entre ellos.

Mark 11:16 — Verso Marco 11:16. Llevar cualquier recipiente... Entre los judíos, la palabra keli, recipiente , tenía una amplia latitud de significado; significaba brazos , Jeremias 21:4; Ezequiel 9:1; ropa , Deuteronomio 22:5 y instrumentos de música , Salmo 71:22. Es probable que el evangelista use la palabra griega σκευος en el mismo sentido, y al señalar cualquiera de las cosas que eran comprada y vendida en el templo.

Acts 9:26 — Verse Acts 9:26. He assayed to join himself to the disciples — επειρατο κολλασθαι, He endeavoured to get closely united to them, to be in religious fellowship with them.Believed not that he was a disciple. — They did not suppose it possible that such a person could be converted to the faith of Christ. The full power of Divine grace, in the conversion of the soul, was not yet completely known.

Romans 2:9 — Verse Romans 2:9. Tribulation and anguish — Misery of all descriptions, without the possibility of escape, will this righteous Judge inflict upon every impenitent sinner. The Jew first, as possessing greater privileges, and having abused greater mercies; and also on the Gentile, who, though he had not the same advantages, had what God saw was sufficient for his state; and, having sinned against them, shall have punishment proportioned to his demerit.

Romans 9:14 — Verse Romans 9:14. What shall we say then? — To what conclusion shall we come on the facts before us? Shall we suggest that God's bestowing peculiar privileges in this unequal manner, on those who otherwise are in equal circumstances, is inconsistent with justice and equity? By no means. Whatever God does is right, and he may dispense his blessings to whom and or what terms he pleases.

1 Thessalonians 4:9 — Verse 9. Touching brotherly love — They were remarkable for this; and though the apostle appears to have had this as a topic on which he intended to write to them, yet, from the account which he received of their prosperous state by Timothy, he finds that it is unnecessary to spend any time in inculcating a doctrine which they fully understood and practised. See 1 Thessalonians 3:6.

2 Timothy 3:13 — Verse 13. Evil men and seducers shall wax worse — They will yet get on for a season, deceiving themselves and deceiving others; but, by and by, their folly will become manifest to all, 2 Timothy 3:9. The word γοητες, which we render seducers, signifies jugglers, pretenders to magical arts; probably persons dealing in false miracles, with whom the Church in all ages has been not a little disgraced.

1 Peter 3:18 — Verse 18. Christ also hath once suffered — Romans 5:6; Romans 5:6; "Hebrews 9:28".Put to death in the flesh — In his human nature.But quickened by the Spirit — That very dead body revived by the power of his Divinity. There are various opinions on the meaning of this verse, with which I need not trouble the reader, as I have produced that which is most likely.

Revelation 19:9 — Verse Revelation 19:9. Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper] This is an evident allusion to the marriage of the king's son, Matthew 22:2, &c., where the incarnation of our Lord, and the calling of Jews and Gentiles, are particularly pointed out. See the notes there. Blessed are all they who hear the Gospel, and are thus invited to lay hold on everlasting life.

Revelation 7:9 — Verse Revelation 7:9. A great multitude — This appears to mean the Church of Christ among the Gentiles, for it was different from that collected from the twelve tribes; and it is here said to be of all nations, kindreds, people, and tongues.Clothed with white robes — As emblems of innocence and purity. With palms in their hands, in token of victory gained over the world, the devil, and the flesh.
