Genesis 7:1 couple of these cases and shall find that the "contradiction" is non-existent. It really rests upon misreading or misunderstanding what is written, or upon failure to observe the usual Scriptural method.
CHAPTER SUMMARY
Noah enters the ark (Genesis 7:1-5); precise dating of the flood (Genesis 7:6-12); the prevailing of the waters in three degrees of intensity (Genesis 7:13-18); and the result and duration of the flood (Genesis 7:19-24).
"And Jehovah! said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into
Ezra 8:31-34 with him was Eleazar the son of Phinehas: and with them was Jozabad the son of Jeshua, and Noadiah the son of Bennuni, the Levites) - the whole by number and by weight: and all the weight was written at that time."
"After four months of traveling (Ezra 7:9), they came to Jerusalem; the fact of their having been unmolested on the way (Ezra 7:31) vindicated their faith in God's protection; and the treasures were weighed in with the proper temple authorities, indicating that none had been misappropriated."The
Isaiah 20:5 3:9).
One of the significant things not previously noted in this chapter is God's reference to Isaiah as "my servant" in Isaiah 20:3. "Isaiah shares this honorable title with a select few of God's saints: (1) Abraham (Genesis 26:24); (2) Moses (Numbers 12:7); (3) Caleb (Numbers 14:24); (4) Job (Job 1:8; Job 42:7-8; (5) Eliakim (Isaiah 22:20); and (6) Zerrubbabel (Haggai 2:23)."The Pulpit Commentary, p. 220. What an honor it is for any mortal to be recognized as one who is actually serving God!
Isaiah 7 overview the standpoint of Ahaz was the fact that both Syria and Ephraim had already defeated Ahaz in battles that had inflicted heavy losses, resulting in the great fear and trembling that fell upon Ahaz when he learned of the coalition against him. Isaiah 7:1-9 record the prophetic instructions given by God through Isaiah to Ahaz, whose unbelief caused him to reject the instructions. He favored, instead, his own scheme of forming an alliance with Assyria, which of course would be, at last, the total and
Ezekiel 2:1 retained the name of their pious ancestors, they had wretchedly degenerated. This passage declares that they had become Goim, nations, the word commonly used in that era for Gentiles."Matthew Henry Commentary (Westwood, New Jersey: Fleming H. Revell), p. 760. The other sacred writers agree with what is written here. "The children of Israel had become as the children of the Ethiopians" (Amos 9:7). "They had become traffickers, the ancient word for Canaanites" (Hosea 12:7). This last word shows that Israel
Matthew 1:20 temptations, strengthened him in the garden of Gethsemane, and escorted him to glory. Angels appeared and spoke at his resurrection (Matthew 28:5), at his ascension (Acts 1:11), to Cornelius (Acts 10:3), to Philip (Acts 8:26), and to Peter (Acts 12:7). The scholarly Robert Milligan summarizes the functions of angels as follows: (1) to frustrate the wiles of Satan (Judges 1:6); (2) to punish wicked men (Genesis 19:1-26; 2 Kings 19:35; Acts 12:23); (3) to preside over the councils of princes and governments
Luke 7:2 Zondervan Publishing House), p. 205. The list of centurions listed in the New Testament is:
1. The one whose servant was healed (in this passage).
2. The one who confessed Christ at the cross (Matthew 27:54).
3. The ones who rescued Paul from the mob (Acts 21:32).
4. The one who bore Paul's message to the chiliarch (Acts 22:25).
5. Cornelius, the first Gentile convert (Acts 10:1)
6. Julius,
John 4:9 that city as an honored guest for two days and nights. All of it began with this request for a drink of water.
Who am a Samaritan woman … For the origin of this people and the development of the hatred between them and the Jews, see under John 4:7, above.
A Jew … The first estimate of Jesus formed by this woman was stated in these words; but her knowledge and understanding of Jesus grew rapidly. Note the following: "A Jew" (John 4:7), "Sir" (John 4:11), "a prophet"
John 9:29 article under John 5:39 with regard to knowing and yet not knowing the Scriptures.
This man … we know not whence he is. Some have fancied that these words do not contradict what these hypocrites said earlier, "We know whence he is" (John 7:27); but of course they do contradict it. As a matter of fact, truth was no consideration to these sons of the devil who would have said anything that seemed, at the moment, to suit their purpose. It is a waste of time to try to "harmonize"
Acts 20:29-30 …" indicates that the central apostasy would concern the government of the church; and as Protestants have often affirmed, "The Pope himself is only an elder gone wrong!"
Other New Testament passages bearing upon the apostasy are Matthew 7:15-23; 2 Corinthians 11:3; 2 Thessalonians 2:1-12; 1 Timothy 4:1-5; 2 Timothy 3:1-8; 2 Timothy 4:1-5; 2 Peter 2:1-3; 2 Peter 3:1-7; Revelation 17:3-6; Revelation 18:1-5.
1 Corinthians 3:13 fire; and the fire itself shall prove each man's work of what sort it is.
The day … according to McGarvey, and many others, is a reference to the judgment day when Jesus shall be revealed from heaven "in flaming fire" (2 Thessalonians 1:7); but some have understood it as a day of terrible persecutions such as the "fiery trial" (1 Peter 4:12) prophetically mentioned by both Paul and Peter. Despite the fact of there being an element of testing in times of great persecution, agreement
1 Corinthians 7:23
Ye were bought with a price; become not bondservants of men.
Bruce favored the preferred renditions of RSV and New English Bible (1961) in 1 Corinthians 7:21, because, he said, "This interpretation is more in line with the principle of 1 Corinthians 7:23." F. F. Bruce, op. cit., p. 92. However, it is the conviction here that Paul used the word "bondservants" in a different sense here,
2 Corinthians 7 overview
The first verse of this chapter concludes the paragraph which began at 2 Corinthians 6:14. 2 Corinthians 7:2-4 are a concluding thought connected with Paul's appeal in 2 Corinthians 6:11-13. Paul's stern warning to the Corinthians to come out from among the pagans and "be ye separate" (2 Corinthians 6:14—7:1) came right in the middle of his
Joshua 7:10-15 decisions.
Here is a list of occasions:
The division of Canaan among the twelve tribes (Numbers 26:55).
The choice of the Levitical cities (Joshua 21:4 ff).
Regarding spoil or captives in war (Joel 3:3).
To determine guilt in the case of Achan (here in Joshua 7).
To determine guilt in the case of Jonathan (1 Samuel 14:42).… and in the case of Jonah (Jonah 1:7).
To choose men for a mission (Judges 20:10).
To make appointments (Acts 1:26).

James 4:3 who ask "in his name" (John 14:13), those who ask "believing" (Mark 11:24), and those who ask according to God's will (1 John 5:14). As Gibson observed, here again "is an evident allusion to the sermon on the mount (Matthew 7:7)." E. C. S. Gibson, Pulpit Commentary, Vol. 21, James (Grand Rapids, Michigan: Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing Company, 1950), p. 55. See also Matthew 21:22.
Revelation 2:11
He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the churches. He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.
On the first sentence in this verse, see comment on the identical words in Revelation 2:7, also concerning "overcometh."
Shall not be hurt of the second death … The second death is a reference to the lake of fire in which Satan and his followers are destined at last to be overwhelmed. As Roberson pointed out, many expressions
Revelation 20:1 … This angel is not Christ; one nameless angel is all that Christ needed to dispatch Satan finally and irrevocably.
Having the key of the abyss … "In all the places where abyss is used (Revelation 9:1; Revelation 2:11; Revelation 11:7; Revelation 17:8, including Luke 8:31), the word signifies the present abode of Satan and his angels, not the place of their final punishment." A. Plummer, The Pulpit Commentary, Vol. 22, Revelation (Grand Rapids, Michigan: Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing
Revelation 21:6 is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
And he said unto me … God continues to speak. Dummelow understood this as a reference to Revelation 21:5. J. R. Dummelow, Commentary on the Holy Bible (New York: The Macmillan Company, 1937), p. 1090. The creation of all things new is here referred to as a past event, by the prophetic tense, showing that it is as certain to happen as if it had already occurred.
I am the Alpha and the Omega, … "As the book opens, so it closes,
Revelation 7:1
After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that no wind should blow on the earth, or on the sea, or upon any tree. (Revelation 7:1)
After this I saw … "It is dangerous to assume that the order in which John writes is the order in which the things he describes will happen." Michael Wilcock, I Saw Heaven Opened (Downers Grove, Illinois: Inter-Varsity Press, 1975),
Revelation 7:9 great multitude, which no man could number, out of every nation and of all tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, arrayed in white robes, and palms in their hands;
After these things … See under Revelation 7:1. The logic of the first vision of this chapter (Revelation 7:1-8) coming first is inherent in the fact that two different states of Christians are in view: (1) their state on earth suffering persecutions and martyrdom, and (2) their state in heaven
