Exodus 26:31-37 the same veil remaineth, it not being - revealed to them that it is done away in Christ. But unto this day, whensoever Moses is read, a veil lieth upon their heart, but whensoever it shall turn to the Lord, the veil is taken away (2 Corinthians 3:14-16)."
Right here, then, is the reason for so many foolish and irresponsible things being written about the O.T. Unregenerated, unsaved men who know not Christ are incapable of writing intelligently about the O.T. If this is not what the blessed Paul said
Job 1:6-12 error, "Sons of God means superhuman, or celestial beings."H. H. Rowley, Job, in the New Century Bible Commentary (Grand Rapids: Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing Company, 1970). "To interpret these words thus is to suppose that the very same words in Genesis 6:1-3 teach that angels intermarried with men producing a race of giants, despite the fact that the Christ himself declared that angels "Neither marry nor are given in marriage" (Matthew 22:30). The true meaning of Sons of God is found in Romans 8:14.
Ecclesiastes 7:26-29 nets" This is fully in harmony with what Solomon had written in Proverbs 2:14; Proverbs 5:3-4, etc. "Solomon himself had experienced much bitterness from the sin and misery into which women can lead their victims."The Pulpit Commentary, op. cit., p. 165. In this verse, however, he is speaking particularly of the wicked woman described repeatedly in the first seven chapters of Proverbs. Nevertheless, as Barton charged, what Solomon wrote here is sufficient grounds for assuming that, "He was a misogynist."International
Isaiah 34:1-7 Biblical prophecies is called the "prophetic certainty." When God prophesies anything, it is as certain to be fulfilled as if it had already occurred.
OBSERVATIONS ON THE ETERNAL JUDGMENT
One of the six fundamentals of the Christian religion (Hebrews 6:2), the judgment is extensively mentioned throughout both the Old Testament and the New Testament. It was promised in Genesis (Genesis 2:17) where God pronounced death upon the whole race of Adam if they ate of the forbidden fruit. The sentence will
Isaiah 37:8-13 Haran, and Rezeph, and the children of Eden that were in Telassar? Where is the king of Hamath, and the king of Arpad, and the king of the city of Sepharvaim, of Hena, and Ivvah?"
One of the unresolved questions mentioned in the introduction to Isaiah 36 concerns the Tirhakah mentioned here in Isaiah 37:9. Some say he was too young to have led an expedition against Sennacherib at this time, being only about ten years of age; but there is too much ignorance of the whole political picture of that period
Jeremiah 14:19-22 party, the other is no longer bound by it. The covenant is necessarily annulled.
"Are there any among the vanities" This question suggests that of the apostle Peter who asked, "Lord, to whom shall we go? Thou only hast the words of eternal life" (John 6:68). "The vanities here are the artificial deities,"E. Henderson, The Book of the Prophet Jeremiah (London: Hamilton, Adams, and Company, 1851), p. 93. that is, all of the idol gods.
Jeremiah 15:10-11 Eerdmans Publishing Company, 1972) p. 392. This seems to be going a little too far with such implications, because certainly there is a vast difference in what is said here from the account of what was said when Job cursed the day of his birth (Job 3:1-6). Still, Jeremiah's error, whatever it was, required his repentance (Jeremiah 15:19).
"I will strengthen thee for good" As Dummelow pointed out, Jeremiah's enemies, of whom was Zedekiah, would not only spare his life, but invoke his aid. An example
Jeremiah 46:27-28 House), p. 257.
Keil noted that, "This promise of salvation for Israel, coming at the close of this prophecy of the judgment on Egypt, is similar to the promise of salvation to Israel inserted in the threat against Babylon (Jeremiah 50:4-7; Jeremiah 51:5-6; Jeremiah 51:10; Jeremiah 51:35-36; Jeremiah 51:45-46; Jeremiah 51:50); and this similarity furnishes proof in behalf of the genuineness of the verse."C. F. Keil, Keil-Delitzsch's Old Testament Commentaries (Grand Rapids: Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing
Jeremiah 48:5-10 Rapid, Michigan: Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing Company, 1972) p. 703. but the mention of "ascent" suggests that it was some kind of summit, or high place.
"Flee, save your lives, be like the heath in the wilderness" Textual uncertainties in Jeremiah 48:6 have led to several different translations here. "The word here rendered `heath' is also rendered as `tamarisk,' `sand-grouse,' or `wild ass' (See KJV, ASV, the English Revised Version (1884), the New English Bible, the Jerusalem Bible, and LXX).The
Jeremiah 50:33-40 serve as the protector or avenger of one enslaved, or murdered. Only here, God Himself will be the [~go'el] (the Redeemer) to rescue Israel. Much of this paragraph is found elsewhere in Jeremiah and Isaiah. On Jeremiah 50:34, cf. Isaiah 43:14; Isaiah 44:6. On Jeremiah 50:39-40, see Isaiah 13:19-22. Jeremiah 50:40 also corresponds with Jeremiah 49:18. It should be noted here that Jeremiah quoted from Isaiah, from both the First Isaiah and the alleged Deutero-Isaiah, a strong evidence of the unity of Isaiah.
"A
Ezekiel 11:14-17 token fulfillment of the glorious promises in the following verses actually occurred; but the complete fulfillment did not take place at all in the secular history of Israel. "The more complete fulfillment appears in the Church of Christ (Galatians 6:16), and in the Jerusalem which is above (Galatians 4:26)."E. H. Plumptre in the Pulpit Commentary, p. 191.
Ezekiel 16:53-57 descendants, or successors, of Sodom, the people of the same character as the Sodomites would, under the New Covenant in Christ, enjoy the privileges of forgiveness and salvation."Anton T. Pearson in Wycliffe Bible Commentary (Chicago: Moody Press, 1962), p. 721.
In fact, this indeed happened at Corinth (1 Corinthians 6:9-11). Paul noted that the very worst sinners, including drunkards and Sodomites, were saved, cleansed, sanctified, and justified, not as continuing practitioners of their vile sins,
Ezekiel 18:5-9 unimportant was succinctly stated thus by Cooke. "The sins enumerated are moral rather than ceremonial offenses";International Critical Commentary, p. 198. However, the reference to the righteous man's keeping "all my statutes" in such passages as Ezekiel 18:6; Ezekiel 18:9; Ezekiel 18:11; Ezekiel 18:17; Ezekiel 18:21, cannot possibly support such an error.
Beginning with this paragraph and running through Ezekiel 18:18, "Ezekiel gives a concrete example of the truth announced in Ezekiel 18:4, above. Three
Ezekiel 34:1-6 Jeremiah 23 ff, and in Zechariah 11:1-11. Also, Jesus' words in John 10 carry the same message.
"The word `shepherd' in the Old Testament, as in Homer's Iliad is always a reference to kings and civil rulers."E. H. Plumptre in the Pulpit Commentary, p. 206. Cook stated that, "The first king upon earth wore this title; his name was Aloms. The title was adopted into the Assyrian language as RIU (shepherd) and persisted to the latest times of the Assyrian monarchy."Albert Barnes' Commentary, p. 382 The evil
Daniel 12:5-7 forever and ever that it shall be for a time, and times, and a half; and when they have made an end of breaking in pieces the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished."
"How long shall it be to the end of these wonders" (Daniel 12:6)." This means, "How long shall it be to the end of the world, the general resurrection of the just and the wicked, and the glorification of the saints of God? The answer came back that all of these wonders would come at the end of time, and times, and
Zechariah 1:8 fraction, no doubt, of their total utility in the economy of God. The effect of such a view of the legions of supernatural beings engaged in doing the will of God would be one of amazement and encouragement. It is impossible not to find in Revelation 6 a more detailed and expanded vision of these same agencies, the very same figure being employed. Nor should it surprise us a little later in the vision to find that the Angel of the Covenant, Christ himself, controls and directs this vast resource of

Joshua 2:1-7 R. Dummelow, Commentary on the Holy Bible (New York: The Macmillan Company, 1937), p. 143.
"Two men as spies secretly" The critics insult this passage as being "redundant,"Joseph R. Sizoo, The Interpreter's Bible, Vol. 2 (New York: Abingdon Press, 1956), p. 559. That type of cavil is based on the proposition that the word "spies" automatically means "secretly," such a cliche being itself untrue. When Joshua himself went out as a spy forty years earlier, all Israel knew of the sending out of those
Hebrews 12:1 today!"
Barnes said of this expression, "It is a figurative representation, such as is common, and means that we ought to act AS IF they were in sight." Albert Barnes, Notes on the New Testament (Grand Rapids, Michigan: Baker Book House, 1963), Hebrews, p. 292. Lenski also rejects the concept of the ancient worthies as spectators, saying, "The souls of the saints are at rest; they are no longer concerned about the trials that occur on earth." R. C. H. Lenski, The Interpretation
1 Peter 2:5 them up at the last day. Nicholson was correct in seeing here a contrast between a spiritual temple of born-again believers with the stone temple in Jerusalem." Roy S. Nicholson, Beacon Bible Commentary, Vol. 10 (Kansas City: Beacon Hill Press, 1967), p. 279.
The words "living stone" and "living stones" are to be understood as "distinguishing the Christian church, the spiritual temple of God, both from the temples of the idols and the temple in Jerusalem, which were built
