Nehemiah 7:4 The people were few - The number of those who returned with Zerubbabel was no more than 42,360 Nehemiah 7:66. Less than 2,000 people had come with Ezra Ezra 8:1-20.
Esther 10:3 Mordecai ... was next unto king Ahasuerus - See Esther 2:5 note. Artabanus (Esther 1:14 note) was favorite toward the end of Xerxes’ reign, i. e. in his 20th and 21st years.
Proverbs 13:10 Either:(1) “By pride alone comes contention” - that is the one unfailing spring of quarrels; or(2) “By pride comes contention only” - it, and it alone, is the fruit of pride.
Proverbs 8:35 Wisdom then is the only true life. The Word, the Light, is also the Life of man John 1:4. The eternal life is to know God and Christ John 17:3.
Leviticus 25:39-40 The law here appears harmoniously to supplement the earlier one in Exodus 21:1-6. It was another check applied periodically to the tyranny of the rich. Compare Jeremiah 34:8-17.
