Now Paul provided the Corinthians with yet another of Israel’s mistakes (this is his fifth example from the nation of Israel). This blunder, just like the preceding

10:21: Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of demons: ye cannot partake of the table of the Lord, and of the table of demons.
This passage has been called a “moral impossibility” and this is a good description of the verse.

At Corinth (and by implication elsewhere) Christians were to keep the “traditions” (paradosis) “delivered” to them by inspired men. Traditions is applied

The word “discern” (diakrino) occurs about 20 times in the New Testament. Jesus used this word to say people could discern the

At the beginning of verse 31 Paul spoke of God’s people “judging”

This section of the letter indicates the Corinthians were abusing some of their supernatural gifts. Tongue speakers (and perhaps others) turned their gift into a performance (compare 13:1-3).

13:4: Love suffereth long, (and) is kind; love envieth not; love vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
As with most things in life, love may be described both positively and negatively and this is what Paul did. His first description of love is positive.
