Job 37:23 — THE ALMIGHTY. Hebrew Shaddai. App-4 . power. The Hebrew accents mark off three distinct attributes: (1) power supreme; (2) righteousness abundant; (3) the consequent reverence from men, Job 37:24 .

Psalms 68:23 — dipped. Aramaean, Septuagint, Syriac, and Vulg, read "bathed". Compare Isaiah 63:3 , Revelation 19:13 . dogs in the same. Supply the Ellipsis from the context: "dogs [may lick] the same".

Proverbs 1:9 — they: i.e. instruction and law. ornament = garland. neck. Showing cheerful and willing obedience, in contrast with stiffneckedness (Exodus 32:9 ) and pride (Isaiah 3:16 ). See also Genesis 41:42 .

Proverbs 8:35 — fin deth life: i.e. resurrection life, and life eternal. Compare John 3:36 . 1 John 5:12 . See note on Leviticus 18:5 . favour = as shown in Romans 6:23 .

2 Samuel 3:31 — bier . Hebrew. mittah, a bed; See 2 Samuel 4:7 , and compare Exodus 8:3 . The poor man's couch by day was his bed by night, and sometimes his bier.
