Darby's Synopsis of the New Testament

Matthew 8

Introduction

1:11 away (a-14) In those days conquerors transported conquered nations to distant seats, and replaced them by others, that national feeling might not subsist, but dependence be complete. 'Carrying away' is feeble for this, but I know no other word.

Verse 3

8:3 touched (e-8) As Mark 1:41 .

Verse 4

8:4 for (f-25) Eis . as ch. 12.20, 'unto.'

Verse 5

8:5 entered (g-5) Many authorities read, 'as he entered.'

Verse 8

8:8 word, (h-23) Lit. 'with' or 'by a word,' in contrast with coming.

Verse 17

8:17 through (a-10) See Note, ch. 1.22. saying, (b-14) Isaiah 53:4 .

Verse 26

8:26 was (c-27) Ginomai . Lit. 'it then began' or 'took place.'

Verse 28

8:28 Gergesenes, (d-17) Some read 'Gadarenes,' others 'Gerasenes.'

Verse 29

8:29 us? (e-26) Or, perhaps, 'to torment us before the time.'

Verse 34

8:34 to (f-19) Or, more exactly, 'they begged him, so that he might go away.' see a similar expression in ch. 9.38.
