Mark 8:22 . Βηθσαϊδάν . If there were two Beth-saidas, which of the two? If only one of course it was Bethsaida Julias. But against this has been cited the term κώμη twice applied to the town (Mark 8:23 ; Mark 8:26 ), which, however, may be regarded as satisfactorily explained by the remark: it had been a village, and was first made a town by Philip, who enlarged and beautified it and called it Julias in honour of the daughter of Augustus (Joseph., B. J., ii., 9, 1, etc.). So Meyer and others.

1 Corinthians 8:1-6 . § 25. KNOWLEDGE OF THE ONE GOD AND ONE LORD. In inquiring from their Ap. “about the εἰδωλόθυτα ,” the Cor [1217] had intimated their “knowledge” of the falsity of the entire system of idolatry. Here Paul checks them at
2 Corinthians 1:22 moment in the past; and this can only mean the moment of baptism . This, too, is the best explanation of the parallel passages, Ephesians 1:13 ; Ephesians 4:30 . The gift of the Holy Spirit is repeatedly mentioned as consequent on baptism (Acts 2:38 ; Acts 19:6 ); and the σφραγίς , or “seal” of baptism, is a common image in early Christian literature ( e.g. , [2 Clem.,] § 8, τηρήσατε … τὴν σφραγῖδα ἄσπιλον ). The “seal” of the Church is given by St. Paul (2 Timothy 2:19

1 Peter 3:22
1 Peter 3:22 . Christ went into Heaven and now is on God’s right hand (Psalms 110:1 ) when angels and authorities and powers had subjected themselves to Him in accordance with prophecy (Psalms 8:7 ; cf. Heb 2:8 ; 1 Corinthians 15:24 ff.). For the orders of angels see also Romans 8:38 ; Ephesians 1:21 . Clearly they include the rebels of 1 Peter 3:19 f. whom Jubilees calls the angels of the Lord (Jub. iv. 15) and Onkelos the sons of the mighty and their children (?) the giants .
