Genesis 18:5 5. for therefore are ye come—No
questions were asked. But Abraham knew their object by the course
they took—approaching directly in front of the chief sheik's
tent, which is always distinguishable from the rest and thus showing
their wish to be his guests.
1 Kings 4:32 32. he spake three thousand
proverbs—embodying his moral sentiments and sage observations
on human life and character.

Psalms 127:1-5; Psalms 132:1-18,

Psalms 126:5 5, 6. As in husbandry the sower
may cast his seed in a dry and parched soil with desponding fears, so
those shall reap abundant fruit who toil in tears with the prayer of
faith. (Compare the history, Ezra 6:16;
Ezra 6:22).
Psalms 132:1 1-5. This vow is not elsewhere
recorded. It expresses, in strong language, David's intense desire to
see the establishment of God's worship as well as of His kingdom.
remember David—literally,
"remember for David," that is, all his troubles and
anxieties on the matter.
Psalms 2:5 5. Then shall he speak—His
righteous indignation as well as contempt is roused. For God to speak
is for Him to act, for what He resolves He will do (Genesis 1:3;
Psalms 33:9).
vex them—agitate or
terrify them (Psalms 83:15).
Psalms 6:5 5. (Compare Psalms 115:17;
Psalms 115:18; Isaiah 38:18).
There is no incredulity as to a future state. The contrast is between
this scene of life, and the grave or Sheol, the unseen world
of the dead.
give . . . thanks—or,
"praise for mercies."
Psalms 65:1-13 Salmo 65

Proverbs 10:6 6. Blessings—literally,
"Praises." The last clause is better: "The mouth of
the wicked covereth (or concealeth) violence (or mischievous
devices)" to be executed in due time (Psalms 5:9;
Psalms 10:7; Romans 3:14),
and hence has no praises (compare Romans 3:14- :).
Proverbs 20:1-30 CAPITULO 20
1. escarnecedor—El vino hace escarnecedores a los hombres. cerveza—“bebida fuerte” (Versión Inglesa), vino mezclado con especias ( Isaías 5:11, Isaías 5:22). errare—o acaso, tambalearé.
2. (Cf. el cap. 19:12.) Los que resisten a la autoridad se hacen daño a sí mismos ( Romanos 13:2).
3. dejarse de contiendas—o mejor, “vivir alejado de contiendas,” como hábito de vida. se envolverá—(cap.
Ecclesiastes 5:12 12. Another argument against
anxiety to gain riches. "Sleep . . . sweet" answers to
"quietness" (Ecclesiastes 4:6);
"not suffer . . . sleep," to "vexation of spirit."
Fears for his wealth, and an overloaded stomach without "laboring"
(compare Ecclesiastes 4:5), will not
suffer the rich oppressor to sleep.
Song of Solomon 1:4 and "Tell" (Song of Solomon 1:7),
reverently qualify the word "kiss" (Song of Solomon 1:7- :).

we follow Christ as joined in a communion of saints (John 1:41;
John 1:45). Individuality and
community meet in the bride.

Isaiah 29:18 18. deaf . . . blind—(Compare
Matthew 11:5). The spiritually
blind, c., are chiefly meant "the book," as Revelation is
called pre-eminently, shall be no longer "sealed," as is
described (Isaiah 29:11), but the

as to leave them nothing.

additional idea of it being openly and palpably done.
"Presence," equivalent to "face" (Hebrew).
Isaiah 36:10 10. A boastful inference from
the past successes of Assyria, designed to influence the Jews to
surrender; their own principles bound them to yield to
Jehovah's will. He may have heard from partisans in Judah what Isaiah
had foretold (Isaiah 10:5; Isaiah 10:6).
5. ¿Y tú buscas para ti grandezas?—Estás demasiado fastidiado y te muestras excesivamente egoísta. Cuando mi pueblo peculiar, la nación
1 Corinthians 10:16 :, "They who eat . . . are partakers" (joint
communicants). "Is" in both cases in this verse is literal,
not represents. He who with faith partakes of the cup and the
bread, partakes really but spiritually of the blood and body of
Christ (Ephesians 5:30; Ephesians 5:32),
and of the benefits of His sacrifice on the cross (compare Ephesians 5:32- :). In contrast to this is to have "fellowship with
devils" (1 Corinthians 10:20).

Christianity, brought converts to Judaism. But if justification in
any degree depended on legal ordinances, Christ's crucifixion in that
degree was unnecessary, and could profit nothing (Galatians 5:2;
Galatians 5:4). Worldly Wiseman, of the
town of Carnal Policy, turns Christian out of the narrow way of the
Cross, to the house of Legality. But the way to it was up a mountain,
which, as Christian advanced, threatened to fall on him and crush
him,

2 Samuel 3:5 5. Eglah David's wife—This
addition has led many to think that Eglah was another name for
Michal, the first and proper wife, who, though she had
no family after her insolent ridicule of David ( :-), might have had a child before.
