Ecclesiastes 3:1-22 (vv. 12, 13). Lo que nos consuela en medio de la inestabilidad de las bendiciones terrenales, es que los consejos de Dios son inmutables (v. 14).
1. El hombre tiene su ciclo señalado de estaciones y de vicisitudes, como el sol, viento, y agua (cap. 1:5-7). lo que se quiere—o se propone, todo “propósito:” como hay una “sazón” fija en los “propósitos” de Dios (por eje., ha fijado él tiempos cuando nazca, y cuando muera uno. v. 2), así hay también un “tiempo” (plazo) lícito para que el hombre lleve a

Isaiah 65:24 24. Contrast :-, "none . . . calleth," c. and see on :-, "I called, ye did not answer." MAURER
translates, "They shall hardly (literally, "not yet")
call, when (literally, "and") I will answer; they shall be
still speaking, when I will hear" (Psalms 32:5;
Daniel 9:20; Daniel 9:21).
Isaiah 66:11 11. suck— (Isaiah 60:5;
Isaiah 60:16; Isaiah 61:6;
Isaiah 49:23).
abundance—Hebrew,
"the ray-like flow of her opulence," that is, with
the milk spouting out from her full breasts (answering to the
parallel, "breast of her consolations") in ray-like streams
[GESENIUS].
Jeremiah 14:21 21. us—"the throne of Thy
glory" may be the object of "abhor not" ("reject
not"); or "Zion" ( :-).
throne of thy
glory—Jerusalem, or, the temple, called God's
"footstool" and "habitation" (1 Chronicles 28:2;
Psalms 132:5).
thy covenant— (Psalms 106:45;
Daniel 9:19).
Jeremiah 27:22 22. until . . . I visit them—in
wrath by Cyrus (Jeremiah 32:5). In
seventy years from the first carrying away of captives in
Jehoiachin's reign (Jeremiah 29:10;
2 Chronicles 36:21).
restore them—by the
hand of Cyrus (Ezra 1:7). By
Artaxerxes (Ezra 7:19).
Jeremiah 29:5 5. Build . . . houses—In
opposition to the false prophets' suggestions, who told the captives
that their captivity would soon cease, Jeremiah tells them that it
will be of long duration, and that therefore they should build
houses, as Babylon is to be for long their home.
Jeremiah 7:28 28. unto them—that is, in
reference to them.
a nation—The word
usually applied to the Gentile nations is here applied to the
Jews, as being east off and classed by God among the Gentiles.
nor receiveth correction—
(Jeremiah 5:3).
truth . . . perished—
(Jeremiah 9:3).
Lamentations 3:6 6. set me—HENDERSON
refers this to the custom of placing the dead in a sitting posture.
dark places—sepulchers.
As those "dead long since"; so Jeremiah and his people are
consigned to oblivion (Psalms 88:5;
Psalms 88:6; Psalms 143:3;
Ezekiel 37:13).
Gimel.
Ezekiel 16:57 57. Before thy wickedness was
discovered—manifested to all, namely, by the punishment
inflicted on thee.
thy reproach of . . . Syria
and . . . Philistines—the indignity and injuries done thee by
Syria and the Philistines (2 Kings 16:5;
2 Chronicles 28:18; Isaiah 9:11;
Isaiah 9:12).
Ezekiel 33:10 10. be upon us—that is, their
guilt remain on us.
pine away in them—if we
suffer the penalty threatened for them in :-, according to the law ( :-).
how should we . . . live?—as
Thou dost promise in Ezekiel 33:5
(compare Ezekiel 37:11; Isaiah 49:14).
Ezekiel 37:5 5. I . . . cause breath to enter
into you—So Isaiah 26:19,
containing the same vision, refers primarily to Israel's
restoration. Compare as to God's renovation of the earth and all its
creatures hereafter by His breath, Isaiah 26:19- :.
ye shall live—come to
life again.
Daniel 5:28 28. Peres—the explanation of
"dividers" (Daniel 5:25),
the active participle plural there being used for the passive
participle singular, "dividers" for "divided."
The word "Peres" alludes to the similar word "Persia."
divided—namely, among
the Medes and Persians [MAURER];
or, "severed" from thee [GROTIUS].
Hosea 13:5 5. I did know thee—did
acknowledge thee as Mine, and so took care of thee (Psalms 144:3;
Amos 3:2). As I knew thee
as Mine, so thou shouldest know no God but Me (Amos 3:2- :).
in . . . land of . . .
drought— (Deuteronomy 8:15).

Zechariah 4:14 14. anointed ones—literally,
"sons of oil" (Isaiah 5:1,
Margin). Joshua the high priest, and Zerubbabel the civil
ruler, must first be anointed with grace themselves, so as to be the
instruments of furnishing it to others (compare 1 John 2:20;
1 John 2:27).
Luke 1:11 11. right side—the south side,
between the altar and the candlestick, Zacharias being on the north
side, in front of the altar, while offering incense [WEBSTER
and WILKINSON]. But why
there? The right was the favorable side ( :-) [SCHOTTGEN and
WESTEIN in MEYER];
compare Mark 16:5.
1 Corinthians 10:22 22. Do we provoke the Lord to
jealousy?—by dividing our fellowship between Him and idols ( :-). Is it our wish to provoke Him to assert His power? :- is before the apostle's mind [ALFORD],
(Exodus 20:5).
are we stronger?—that
we can risk a contest with Him.
Colossians 3:22 22. (Ephesians 6:5;
Ephesians 6:6.) This is to fear God,
when, though none sees us, we do no evil: but if we do evil,
it is not God, but men, whom we fear.
singleness—"simplicity
of heart."
fearing God—The oldest
manuscripts read, "the Lord."
1 Peter 4:5 5. They who now call you to
account falsely, shall have to give account themselves for this very
evil-speaking (Judges 1:15), and be
condemned justly.
ready—very speedily
(1 Peter 4:7; 2 Peter 3:10).
Christ's coming is to the believer always near.
