Genesis 17:14 — Y el hijo varón incircunciso cuya carne de su prepucio no sea circuncidada, esa alma será cortada de su pueblo; ha roto mi pacto. Ver. 14. Exodus 1:17 — más, aunque por un principio mejor, de lo que la naturaleza misma dicta. Ezekiel 44:6 — And thou shalt say to the rebellious, [even] to the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; O ye house of Israel, let it suffice you of all your abominations, And thou shalt say to the rebellious. — Heb., To rebellion. Vulgate, To the exasperating house. Let it suffice you. — Ye have sinned enough, and more than enough. 1 Peter 4:3 Now that I have set you up a new temple, turn over a new leaf for shame; as Ezekiel 43:10 when shall it once be? Jeremiah 13:27

Daniel 4:37 — is the first author of all, so to him as to the utmost end, quasi circulo quodam confecto, all honour ought to return. All whose works are truth, — i.e., Right and righteous. And those that walk in pride he is able to abase. — See Daniel 4:33 . “ Ingentes quercus, annosas fulminat ornos. ” - Claudian

Mark 13:14 — them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains: The abomination of desolation — The Roman forces, therefore most abominable to God and his angels, because they desolated the pleasant land and abolished the true worship of God. See Revelation 17:4-5 . Where it ought not — viz. In respect of the Romans, who did it only out of ambition and covetousness. See Isaiah 10:7 .

Mark 8:12 — αναστεναξας signifies) and would have burst, but for a vent. " Expletur lachrymis egeriturque dolor. " So those marked mourners sighed and cried for others, who were altogether insensible of their own miseries, Ezekiel 9:4 . So Habakkuk trembled and quivered for the Chaldeans’ calamities, Habakkuk 3:16 .

John 11:23 — Thy brother shall rise again. Thy brother shall rise again — Let this consideration comfort us in the decease of our dearest friends, they are not lost, but laid up with Christ, who will bring them back with him at his coming, 1 Thessalonians 4:14 . As the same divine hand that buried Moses, that locked up this treasure and kept the key of it, brought it forth afterwards glorious in the transfiguration. The body that was hidden in the valley of Moab appeared again in the hill of Tabor.

John 7:35 — Gentiles, and teach the Gentiles? Teach the Gentiles — Which the Jews could not endure to think on. They profess to this day, that rather than the heathen bastards should have benefit by their Messiah, they would crucify him over and over, Luke 4:25-29 . The rustics of Nazareth understood our Saviour of preaching to the Gentiles, which put them into an anger, and him into a danger.

Acts 18:3 — he was of the same craft, he abode with them, and wrought: for by their occupation they were tentmakers. He abode with them and wrought — Being no less busy in his shop among his tents than in his study among his books and parchments, 2 Timothy 4:13 . So Musculus, persecuted and driven out of his place, was forced for a poor living to dig and weave. (Melch. Adam.) And another late martyr, though he were one of the greatest scholars in Christendom, yet in banishment or flight for conscience served

Acts 4:1 — priests, and the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees, came upon them, The captain of the temple — The Jews had a band of garrison soldiers deputed for the service and safety of the temple, Matthew 27:65 . These forces had many officers, Luke 22:4 , and one chieftain, here called their captain, στρατηγος ; as in their wars with the Romans afterwards, Eleazar the son of Ananias the high priest was in this office, a bold and proud youth, as Josephus
