Ephesians 4:14

Be no more children — But young men,1 John 2:14; 1 John 2:14 , strong men. Many men’s heads today are so big (like children that have the rickets) that all the body fareth the worse for it.
Tossed to and fro — As a feather or froth upon the waves, whirred about with every wind

Glorified not himself — As the pope doth, who will needs be styled Pontifex maximus, the greatest high priest (whereas Christ is called only the great, and not greatest high priest, Hebrews 4:14 ). Pope Hildebrand especially, whom when no man would advance to Peter’s chair, he went up himself. Quis enim melius de me iudicare potest quam ego? said he, Who can better judge of me than myself? James 1:19
Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
Swift to hear — Reaching after that word of truth, the gospel,James 1:18; James 1:18 , and drinking it in as the dry earth doth the dew of heaven. Life doth now enter into the soul at the ear, as at first death did, Genesis 3:19
Slow to speak — We read often, "He that hath an ear to hear, let him hear;"

In the flesh — In human nature; so must we suffer in sinful nature, subduing it to God, and ceasing from sin, hailing it and nailing it to the cross of Christ. First have sin to the cross of Christ; force it before the tree on which
