1 Chronicles 1:44 — And when Bela was dead, Jobab the son of Zerah of Bozrah reigned in his stead. Jobab the son of Zerah reigned. — This Jobab was Job the patient, say some, who, while he was prosperous, was called Jobab; but when in distress, contracted into Job. 1 Chronicles 4:21 — The sons of Shelah the son of Judah [were], Er the father of Lecah, and Laadah the father of Mareshah, and the families of the house of them that wrought fine linen, of the house of Ashbea, Of them that wrought fine linen. — Gentis opificii byssini, silk-weavers. Nehemiah 11:11 — Seraiah the son of Hilkiah, the son of Meshullam, the son of Zadok, the son of Meraioth, the son of Ahitub, [was] the ruler of the house of God. Ruler of the house of God — One of the high priest’s great deputies. See Numbers 3:32 1 Chronicles 9:11 2 Chronicles 19:11 .

Nehemiah 12:23 — The sons of Levi, the chief of the fathers, [were] written in the book of the chronicles, even until the days of Johanan the son of Eliashib. In the book of the chronicles — sc. 1 Chronicles 9:10 , … Johanan the son of Eliashib — That is, Jonathan, the grandchild of Eliashib, and the son of Joiada.

Psalms 104:26 — There go the ships: [there is] that leviathan, [whom] thou hast made to play therein. There go the ships — The use whereof was first showed by God in Noah’s ark, whence afterwards Audax Iapeti genus, Japhet’s offspring sailed, and replenished the islands. Psalms 105:41 — He opened the rock, and the waters gushed out; they ran in the dry places [like] a river. He opened the rock — Set it abroach, giving them pluviam escatilem, et petram aquatilem, as Tertullian hath it. They ran in the dry places — Per deserta Sinis et Tzinis, saith Junius. See 1 Corinthians 10:4 .

Psalms 105:8 — He hath remembered his covenant for ever, the word [which] he commanded to a thousand generations. He hath remembered his covenant — 1 Chronicles 16:15 it is, "Be ye mindful always of his covenant." God ever remembereth, though we many times forget it, and ourselves. The word which he commanded — The conditions of the covenant.

Psalms 83:10 — [Which] perished at Endor: they became [as] dung for the earth. Which perished at Endor — A place in the tribe of Manasseh near unto that ancient river, the river Kison, Joshua 17:11 1 Samuel 28:7 They became as dunq — They lay unburied, rotted above ground, and were spread as compost upon soil.

Psalms 89:13 — Thou hast a mighty arm: strong is thy hand, [and] high is thy right hand. Thou hast a mighty arm — Men should, therefore, both tremble before God, and trust in him, 1 Peter 2:6 . Strong is thy hand — Even thy left hand, q.d. tu polles utraque manu, thou hast both hands alike powerful.

Isaiah 43:18 — Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Ezekiel 5:3 — Thou shalt also take thereof a few in number, and bind them in thy skirts. Thou shalt also take thereof a few in number. — A remnant is still reserved, "that the Lord God may dwell among men." Psalms 68:18 See Jeremiah 44:28 2 Kings 25:12 Isaiah 1:9 ; Isaiah 6:10 .

Matthew 21:26 — But if we shall say, Of men; we fear the people; for all hold John as a prophet. We fear the people — Lest they should be stoned; and the people feared them, lest they should be excommunicated. Thus they were mutual executioners one to another; for all fear hath torment, 1 John 4:18 .

Mark 1:27 — And they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying, What thing is this? what new doctrine is this? for with authority commandeth he even the unclean spirits, and they do obey him. For with authority — As he taught, so he wrought with authority, εξουσια . The same word is used Mark 1:22 .
