Genesis 2:18 — Y dijo Jehová Dios: No es bueno que el hombre esté solo; Le haré ayuda idónea para él. Ver. 18. Who shall lay anything — This is that confident interrogatory of a good conscience, επερωτημα , 1 Peter 3:21 . It is God that justifieth — Some read it questionwise thus, Shall God that justifieth? No such matter. And if the judge acquit a prisoner, he cares not though the jailor or fellow prisoners condemn him; so here.

1 Corinthians 15:1 — Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; And wherein ye stand — εστηκατε , a military term, as Martyr noteth. Satan overthroweth the faith of some, 2 Timothy 2:18 , and by this very engine wherewith he assaulted these Corinthians, ibid. So that the apostle was fain to make apology, 1 Corinthians 15:19 , to make a barricado.

1 Corinthians 15:31 — I protest by your rejoicing which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily. By our rejoicing — i.e. By our infirmities, afflictions, wherein he so much glorieth, 2 Corinthians 11:23-33 ; 2 Corinthians 12:1-10 , as an old soldier doth of his scars. As if the apostle should say, I appeal to all those miseries that I have suffered among you for a testimony.

1 Corinthians 15:6 — After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. Above five hundred — The number of believers were then greater than some would gather out of Acts 1:15 . Those 120 may seem to have been chieftains, such as that any one of them might have been thought meet to succeed Judas in his apostleship.

Galatians 4:13 — Ye know how through infirmity of the flesh I preached the gospel unto you at the first. Through infirmity of the flesh — That is, though much broken with many miseries, yet I spared not to take pains among you. Zachariah, though he ceased to speak, yet he ceased not to minister; he took not his dumbness for a dismission, but stayed out the eight days of his course, Luke 1:23 .

Ephesians 5:13 — But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. But all things that are, … — Or, But all these things, viz. these unfruitful works of darkness, while they are reproved or discovered by the light (viz. of the word, as 1 Corinthians 14:24 ; Hebrews 4:12 ), are made manifest; so that thereby they grow abashed and abased before God and men.

2 Thessalonians 3:12 — Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread. That with quietness — Being no meddler in other men’s matters, but minding his own. Res tuas age. The pragmatic person is an odious person, and the place where he lives longs for a vomit to spew him out. See Trapp on " 1 Thessalonians 4:11 "
