Turn not away the face of thine anointed — Of thy Christ; defer not his coming, or deny not my request, as 1 Kings 2:16-17 ; 1 Kings 2:20 .
Proverbs 31:16
She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.
She considereth a field and buyeth it. — Here is the fruit of her pains and providence. The manus motitans, the "stirring hand maketh rich," Proverbs 10:4 and "a wise woman buildeth her house." Leviticus 14:20
And the priest shall offer the burnt offering and the meat offering upon the altar: and the priest shall make an atonement for him, and he shall be clean.
And the meat offering. — The meat offering annexed to the burnt offering shows, saith one, Bifield, on 1 Peter 1:22 . either that Christians grow marvellously in this life, after they have full assurance of pardon of sin: or else that Christ will be their eternal food in heaven.

They shall not labour in vain. — As wicked men shall. Leviticus 26:14-20 Deuteronomy 28:15-68 Haggai 1:6 ; See Trapp on " Haggai 1:6 "
Nor bring forth for trouble. — Bring forth children to the murderer, Hosea 9:13 to the great grief and trouble of their poor parents.
Jeremiah 2:4
Hear ye the word of the LORD, O house of Jacob, and all the families of the house of Israel:
Hear ye the word of the Lord. — This is often inculcated in both Testaments, to procure attention. "I received of the Lord, that which also I delivered unto you." 1 Corinthians 11:23 "This we say unto you by the word of the Lord." 1 Thessalonians 4:15 Thus to preach, is to preach cum privilegio, with authority.
Daniel 11:29
At the time appointed he shall return, and come toward the south; but it shall not be as the former, or as the latter.
At the time appointed. — After two years.
And come toward the south. — Toward Egypt. 1 Maccabees 1:29
But it shall not be as the former. — Expedition, Daniel 11:25 .
Or as the latter. — Mentioned Daniel 11:40 . God oft crosseth the wicked in the height of their hopes. Job 20:6
Numbers 3:1

Of Aaron and Moses. — Of Aaron by nature, of Moses by education and instruction. Matthew 20:4

Go ye also into the vineyard — God hath his times to call men in; only let them stand in God’s way, wait at the posts of wisdom’s gates, at the pool of Bethesda, … Gratuita et inopinata est ad gratiam vocatio,Ephesians 1:11; Ephesians 1:11 . The separation of the saints is wonderful, Exodus 33:16 .

John 8:50
And I seek not mine own glory: there is one that seeketh and judgeth.
There is one that seeketh and judgeth — The less a man strives for himself, the more is God his champion; those that honour him he will honour. Those that drown all self-respects in his glory, and study his share more than their own, shall he found to "praise, and honour, and glory," in that great amphitheatre at the last day, 1 Peter 1:7 .
Joshua 24:26
And Joshua wrote these words in the book of the law of God, and took a great stone, and set it up there under an oak, that [was] by the sanctuary of the LORD.
