Introduction
1Under the parable of a boiling pot,
6is shewn the irrevocable destruction of Jerusalem.
15By the sign of Ezekiel not mourning for the death of his wife,
19is shewn the calamity of the Jews to be beyond all sorrow.

Verse 1
Again in the ninth year, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
A. M. 3414. B.C. 590. the ninth year. This was the ninth year of Zedekiah, about Thursday, January 30, A.M. 3414, the very day in which Nebuchadnezzar began the siege of Jerusalem

The pot being polluted with the scum, must be heated, melted, and even burned with fire till purified; that is, Jerusalem shall be entirely levelled with the ground, as nothing short of this will purify it from the relics of its idolatrous abominations.

In thy filthiness is lewdness: because I have purged thee, and thou wast not purged, thou shalt not be purged from thy filthiness any more, till I have caused my fury to rest upon thee.
