Charles Buck Theological Dictionary
Consists in approbation of, and inclination towards an object that appears to us as good. It has been distinguished into,
1. Love of esteem, which arises from the mere consideration of some excellency in an object, and belongs either to persons or things.â€”
2. Love of benevolence, which is an inclination to seek the happiness or welfare of any thing.â€”
3. Love of complacence, which arises from the consideration of any object agreeable to us, and calculated to afford us pleasure.
