Appeared in two forms: "Dottrina Cristiana breve da impararsi a mente" (Compendium of Christian Doctrine to be Learned by Heart), 1597; and "Dichiarazione pili copiosa della dottrina Uristiana" (A More Thorough Explanation of Christian Doctrine), 1598. The first is for pupils, the second for teachers. In the first the teacher asks the question and the pupil replies, whereas in the second the process is reversed. The first was recommended at the Vatican Council to serve as a model for the projected universal catechism.
