Also known as the Maynooth Mission to China. Founded in 1916, at Dalgarn Park, Ireland, by the Right Reverend Edward J. Galvan, Titular Bishop of Myrina and Vicar Apostolic of Hanyang. The mother-house is at Navan, Ireland, and the headquarters of the society in the United States is at Saint Columbans, Nebraska, with a preparatory college at Silver Creek, New York. There is a branch in Australia and New Zealand with a house at Melbourne. The Society engages in the education of priests for the Chinese missions, and publishes "The Far East," a periodical devoted to the conversion of China. It is entrusted with the Vicariate Apostolic of Hanyallg, Province of Hupeh, and the Prefecture Apostolic of Kien Chang, Kiangsi Province, China. The Missionary Sisters at Saint Columban, organized in 1922, cooperate with the society.
