Founded as the prefecture apostolic of Northern Transvaal, Transvaal, Africa on December 22, 1910 by division from the Vicariate of Transvaal, and entrusted to the Benedictines of Subiaco. Elevated to the Territorial Abbey of Pietersburg on June 13, 1939. Elevated to the diocese of Pietersburg on December 15, 1988. Suffragen of the archdiocese of Pretoria. See also
