1910 New Catholic Dictionary
Regensburg, Germany, Diocese of
Founded in 739 by Saint Boniface. Over the years its bishops received much property, including several imperial domains and the administration of a few places in Lower Bavaria; they enjoyed secular powers such as the right of coinage and were made princes of the empire in the 17th century.
