Profile Priest in the diocese of Cloyne, Ireland, ordained on May 29, 1846. He labored among the Irish peasantry during the years of misery following the great famine. Bishop of Auckland, New Zealand on June 23, 1870. Took part in Vatican Council I, and in 1874 was transferred to Cashel. Archbishop of Cashel, Ireland on January 24, 1875. There he vigorously supported the Irish national cause, and made several visits to Rome in its defense. He labored to improve the education of his people, and his counsels aided greatly in the establishment of the National University.

Died July 22, 1902 in Cashel, Ireland
