A river—possibly a canal or branch of the Euphrates—upon the banks of which Ezra halted his expedition on its march from Babylon to Jerusalem (Ezra, 8:15-31), to fast and to humble themselves before the Lord. From the fifteenth verse of the same chapter one might infer that Ahava was also the name of a village or town. In I Esd. 8:41,61, it is called Theras.
