Austrian rabbi; born 1784; died at Strassnitz, Moravia, March 3, 1869. He officiated as rabbi successively at Piesling, Pirnitz, Kanitz, Great Meseritz and Holleschau. He was considered one of the keenest Talmudists of Moravia, was a great pilpulist, and wrote many novellæ on various Talmudic treatises. While at Great Meseritz he was the teacher of Isaac Hirsch Weiss, the author of "Dor Dor we-Dorshaw."
