Austrian historiographer; lived in Vienna in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. He was the author of "Ṭiṭ ha-Yawen," describing the horrible excesses perpetrated in the Cossacks' Uprising under Bogdan Chmielnicki in the Ukraine and Galicia in the seventeenth century.The work gives the names of several cities that suffered, also 140 synagogues that were destroyed, and states that 600,070 Jews were supposed to have fallen victims in the uprising. This work was first published in Venice after 1649; a second edition appeared in Cracow in 1892, included in the "Le-Ḳorot ha-Gezerot be-Yisrael" of J. Ḥayyim Gurland.
